Planning For Good Governance from a Legal Point of View - 75 mins.

Good governance for municipalities includes a requirement that municipal decision making and actions are made following the legislative requirements and rules imposed by the courts.  In this presentation learn what as a chief administrative officer you can do to ensure that good governance in your municipality fulfills the necessary requirements for accountability, transparency and procedural fairness.

Good Governance of Property Development Made Better - 75 mins.

By using the services of a Manitoba Land Surveyor, municipalities can have a more proactive approach to property development and be able to make good planning decisions based on accurate information. Professional surveying solutions imbedded in new development by-laws will give the municipality more consistent control of property development. Proposals to new building by-laws and increasing municipal involvement in the subdivision process will be discussed.

Holding an Effective Public Hearing & Effective Enforcement of Planning By-Laws -1 Hour

Municipalities and planning districts are required to hold public hearings on a variety of topics, including road openings, public reserve closings, variations, and conditional uses. They are also responsible for the enforcement of a variety of by-laws. Come and discuss notices, protocols and requirements associated with holding great hearings and enforcing by-laws.

Why plan? How will planning affect me as an administrator? This session will address elements of The Planning Act, The Provincial Land Use Policies (PLUPs), Development Plans, Zoning by-laws, conditional uses, variances, and subdivisions. A "must see" for everyone.
