Municipal By-Law Enforcement - Winnipeg


Featuring Greg Tramley, BA, LLB,  well known throughout the Province for his work with municipalities, this opportunity is designed to take the mystery out of By-Law Enforcement. With this information in hand, both Elected Officials and Staff can move forward with new found ability to make decisions and take action based on a complete understanding of their options. The seminar will include:  

  • Municipal by-law enforcement: recommended approach and practical options for by-law drafting and development, Council and public education and managing expectations, inspections and investigations, enforcement action, compliance and finally collection of costs.
  • Review of the enforcement options and tools available to municipalities.
  • Options for establishing an administrative enforcement system that will work in your municipality.
  • Carrying out inspection, investigation, issuance of orders and review process, issues and practical solutions.
  • Ultimately taking action to remedy the violation.
  • Paying for the costs of enforcement.
  • Approach to by-law drafting, what goes into a good, workable by-law, review of actual by-law examples.
