PUBLIC WORKS FOREMAN - MUNICIPALITY OF ROBLIN
The Municipality of Roblin is seeking a highly-motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills and experience in the operations and maintenance of a municipality or similar organization to head up our Public Works team.
Working with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Foreman shall be responsible for management, administration and delivery of public works services for the Municipality of Roblin for provision of local government responsibilities as outlined in The Municipal Act to ensure that residents receive effective and appropriate services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, schedules, and implements construction, maintenance, and operations designed to provide quality water, sewer, streets, municipal roads and drainage service for the municipality; oversees construction and maintenance work to determine acceptability and conformance to standards; supervises, trains, and oversees employees performing duties of maintenance, construction and repair of water, sewer, street, municipal roads and storm drainage and park facilities; monitors gravel quality and gravelling recommendations as required; supervises the control and use of, and assumes responsibility for all materials, supplies and equipment used in maintenance, construction and repair of streets and roads, water systems, sewer collection, and storm drainage systems and other department facilities. Also assists with the development of the annual work plan, department budget and ensures compliance with the policies and plans approved by Council as well as provincial and federal legislation.
Required skills and Abilities
Demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage change and direct multiple employees. Excellent knowledge of municipal infrastructure and public works best practices in the following areas:
Roads, streets and sidewalks maintenance and repair (including winter operations)
Strong written and oral communication skills along with excellent computer skills
Water distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems, storm drainage systems
Parks maintenance
Vehicle and equipment maintenance
Significant experience in municipal infrastructure operation, maintenance and construction and the safe operation of related tools and equipment
A degree in engineering is not required but will be considered an asset.
